OBITUARY...
Joe Alan Byrom passed away at his home in Rockwall, TX, on May 10, 2016, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. His beloved wife, Carla, was at his side. Joe was born November 6, 1949, to Joe and Dorothy Byrom in Duncan, OK. He graduated from Rapid City High School, in Rapid City, SD, before moving to Texas. Joe graduated from the University of Texas at Austin where he was a member of Lambda Chi fraternity. He embraced the Texas Longhorn spirit for the remainder of his life.

Joe earned his Juris Doctorate from Southern Methodist University in 1975. He loved the Law, and being in the court room was his passion. Joe tried over one hundred trials during his legal career and was Board Certified in Civil Trial Law, but he considered his mentorship of other attorneys to be the most important aspect of his vocation. Joe was a member of Highland Park United Methodist Church in Dallas, TX.

Joe is survived by his dedicated wife of thirty eight years: Carla Peters Byrom; and by his children: Celeste Elizabeth Byrom, Russell Patrick Byrom, and Russell’s wife, Laura Leslie Byrom. His children were his proudest achievements. He is also survived two sisters: Sylvia DuBois and husband James of Waco, TX, and Donna Gooden of Manhattan, KS. Joe was preceded in death by his parents.

A private family service will be held at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Houston, TX, where Joe will be laid to rest.

The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Doctors Hospice Dallas for the care and kindness extended to Joe in his final days.
