OBITUARY...
Terry Lynn Heston was born on May 30, 1950 to Kenneth and Marcella (Rathke) Heston in La Mesa, California. She was the youngest of five children, but definitely the favorite. After her father passed away, the family moved to Rapid City, South Dakota when Terry was 11. She met the love of her life, Richard Hoeye, when she was 15 and he was 17. He was an usher at the Elks Theater; she worked in concessions. Terry braved a cross-country drive in a Rambler station wagon to meet Richard in California after he came home from Vietnam. After that, they knew it must be love, and were later married on December 20, 1969. They were blessed with a baby girl in 1974, Heather. In 1977 they received another blessing, a baby boy named Christopher. Terry was a successful business woman and valued education. She made her family proud when she graduated from Black Hills State University in 1997 with a degree in Human Resources. Employment was quickly gained with ASI, and later Black Hills Corporation. She developed many life-long friends at both companies. If you were lucky enough to know her, you would have been blessed by her caring and compassionate nature. She was active in church, and in Zonta International. She loved working with and meeting new people as evidenced in the many committees she worked and the friends she made. Terry loved to travel. Her favorite trips were to Tahiti and to see the opera Valkyrie. She enjoyed many other travels in her lifetime, especially Canada, Alaska, Jamaica, and Mexico. After retiring in June 2016, Richard and Terry traveled to Glacier National Park, and the five National Parks in Utah.

Terry received a kidney transplant earlier this year thanks to her son and the help of the National Kidney Registry. In August 2016, Terry contracted West Nile Virus. After a brief but valiant battle, she passed into the arms of the Lord on September 22, 2016.

She was creative and wise, crafty and patient. She was beauty distilled in a person. Gifts from Terry were always patiently and lovingly wrapped. She brought sunlight on a gloomy day and always had a song even in the darkest times. She was a loving wife, mother, nana, sister and friend. She wore many hats, and all of them with grace. Terry loved her grandchildren and would travel anywhere to attend their activities. Whether it be gymnastics, football, baseball, volleyball, softball or soccer games, she made every effort to be where they were competing. She was especially proud when her grandson, Nathan, and granddaughter, Ireland, graduated from High School and began college.

She is preceded in death by her mother and father, sister, Laura Myers, and step-father Charles Ludington. She is survived by her husband Richard Hoeye of Rapid City, daughter Heather (Dan Hagel) Rapid City, SD, son Chris (Amy) Hoeye of Highlands Ranch, CO.; grandchildren: Nathan, Ireland, Sydney, Jaden, Isabella, Grace, Brooklynn, and Sophia; sisters: Donna Edwards of LaMesa ,CA and Marjorie (Robert) Blanchard of Carlsbad, CA; brother William (Ellen) Heston of Piedmont, SD and many nieces, nephews and close friends.
