OBITUARY...
Lynda (Cindy) Susan Thompson passed from this life Wednesday, June 7, 2006 at Rapid City Regional Hospital after a courageous brief battle with cancer.

Cindy was born August 11, 1949 in Rapid City to John (Joe) C. and Mary (Robinson) Burton. She attended schools in Rapid City and graduated from Rapid City High School in 1968. Her beloved son, Matt, was born on May 17, 1971. She was joined in marriage to Bob Thompson on September 15, 2004.

Cindy loved designing and creating beautiful pieces of stained glass art. Her art work was well known as Glass by Sassie and sold at many shows and stores over the past decade. Her creative dedication to her craft brought her to her work bench in the pre-dawn hours of her day.

Vocationally, Cindy enjoyed and excelled in her work in the electronics industry at Symcom for over 10 years, and most recently at OEM. She was also well known and loved for her outstanding Customer Service in several area casinos. She will be remembered by many as a sweetheart and so very friendly to everyone.

Among those who will lovingly miss Cindy’s presence in their daily lives include her husband Bob Thompson, Rapid City; her mother and step-father Mary and Harold Schnee, Kadoka; her father and step-mother Joe and Margot Burton, Rapid City; brother Steve Burton, Colorado Springs; sisters Teresa and Rob Smith, Little Rock, Arkansas; Tracey and John Burton Trimble, Rapid City; step-brother Clinton and Darlene Schnee, Kadoka, step sisters Carolyn Labau and Caron Mielke; and step son Rob and Kelly Thompson and step grand daughters Heather, Alyssa and Kyrra, Rapid City and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Cindy’s life was blessed with many wonderful and close friendships including her life long friends Vicki Schroeder and Janell Allen.

Cindy was preceded in death by her son, Matt Van Houten on August 11, 1994, her paternal grandparents Cole and Belle (Stephens) Burton and maternal grandparents Charlie and Justine (Ricard) Robinson.

There will be a gathering of friends and family at Bob and Cindy’s home, 816 Bel Aire Dr. at 3:00 p.m. today, Friday, June 9th in celebration of Cindy’s life.
