OBITUARY...
Lindy Ray Stevens, 62, of Absarokee, Mont., died Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, at St. Vincent Hospital.
He was born Sept. 30, 1950, in Pierre, S.D., to Arthur W. “Buster” and Maxine E. (Freese) Stevens. He graduated in 1969 from Central High School in Rapid City, S.D. He later attended the University of South Dakota in Vermillion.
Lindy resided in South Dakota and Montana, having two children, Ryan and Cody, before settling in Montana in 1981. In 1991, he married the love of his life, Katrina, in Billings. He later moved to beautiful Absarokee, alongside his wife to pursue their dream at the Chrome Bar.
A passionate baseball fan, Lindy played, coached, mentored and immersed himself in the game. He was a New York Yankees fanatic. He was also very enthusiastic about music and found great satisfaction in listening to a wide variety of musicians. A friend to many, Lindy was always engaging and aspired to make everyone around him smile. He was humble, affectionate and loved his family with all his heart.
The greatest joy of his life was being a father. He was always involved with coaching, hunting and any other activities his boys were doing. He was so proud of the fathers they have become. Lindy loved his grandchildren dearly and was looking forward to watching them grow.
Lindy is survived by his wife, Katrina, Absarokee; son Ryan Stevens and his children Owen, Drew and Jersey of Spokane Valley, Wash.; son Cody (Kim) Stevens and daughters Parker and Sloan of Bozeman, Mont.; sister Margaret (Richard) Molumby of Ogden, Utah; numerous nieces and nephews; and an abundance of friends.
He was preceded in death by his brother Richard in 1963; sister Patricia in 1989; father, Arthur “Buster,” in 1987; mother, Maxine, in 2005; and grandson Chance in 2008.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 11, at Absarokee Evangelical Church. A celebratory gathering will be held afterward at the Chrome Bar in Absarokee.
Memorials may be made to the Lindy Stevens fund at the United Bank of Absarokee or to the American Heart Association.
Arrangements are by Cremation & Funeral Gallery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.cfgbillings.com through “Our Families.”
