OBITUARY...
Susan Lynn “Kris” Black, 60, Dallas, died Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2011, at home.

After graduating from Rapid City Central High in 1968, she moved to Phoenix for modeling school. From there she sent yo Bakersfield, California where she worked for Buck Owens Enterprises as a radio personality and later became their marketing director.

One of her job duties involved a full year of traveling the nation to various radio stations promoting Buck Owens and the artists that were signed under his company, which included Don Rich, the Hagar Twins and Lawanda Lindsey and to promote the TV program "Hee-Haw."

After leaving Bakersfield, she followed her dreams to Dallas to start up her business named sunflower Marketing. She studied to become a Reiki master and worked as a mental health minister at Hillcrest Church.

She was dedicated to helping others overcome their physical and mental obstacles. While attending classes at the community college in Dallas, she met the soulmate of her life, Bill Rick.

Survivors include her companion, Bill Rick, Dallas; her mother, Christane Black, Rapid City, S.D.; and her sister, Deb Black, Piedmont, S.D.

Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11, at Alkali Creek Campground picnic area near the Fort Meade recreation area east of the Black Hills National Cemetery exit near Sturgis, S.D., with Larry Reinhold officiating.
