Oh my goodness, almost 50 years since graduation, where has the time gone!? I married in August of 1968 and immediately moved to Washington State. We settled in Vancouver, Wa. Divorced after about 20 years. I have a wonderful loving son, a great daughter in law, 3 granddaughters and a great granddaughter. Life is wonderful! I spent 40 years at the local family owned paper, The Columbian. I started there in advertising, moved to accounting after a year, where I worked on an IBM System III. When they brought PDP DEC 11/70’s into the paper for typesetting, they split the department and I went with the computers to their “Data Center”. I was at the right place at the right time and guess I had a natural aptitude for understanding how it all fit together. I was Operations Supervisor for a number of years. As they decentralized the printing of reports and installed new systems for advertising and accounting, I was given the task of managing and installing those systems. The last two or three years we brought another person in to be my backup and train for when I retired. I retired on May Day 2014, 3 years ago. I’ve shared life the last 11 years with a gentleman who lives next door to me. We travel and share life as much as we can. He was diagnosed with endocarditis in January of 2013. He had several mini strokes before we got it diagnosed and treated. He has memory loss and vascular dementia as a result. We are active in support groups, play cribbage nightly and are as active as we can be to try to hold onto his memory for as long as we can. Through him I have an adopted family of 2 sons and a daughter with 7 additional grandchildren. Almost every summer we fly to either Minneapolis or Denver and then drive to Rapid City to see friends and family. Life is full! I look forward to the 50th Reunion next September!
