After RCHS graduation, I attended the University of Kansas to study Music Education. While at KU, my cello professor got me job at the KU Computer Center. As a mainframe computer operator, I learned enough about software development that I could accept a programming job with a start up company in Rapid. Software Development is a much more lucrative career than Music Education.

That start up went bust 2 years later, and I took a programming job with Copes-Vulcan outside of Erie, PA. While there my boss and I developed and patented the power industry's first programmable sootblower controller, and I spent the next 5 years travelling to various power plants around the country. Then Copes-Vulcan went bust!

My next job was in Lowell, MA working for Wang Laboratories. I started on the Wangwriter development team, went on to printer interfaces, then to the voice technologies dept. where I was awarded a US Patent for one of the projects I managed. After 10 years at Wang, it went bust and 35K employees were laid off.

I moved to Colorado where for the next 25 years I worked for a variety of start ups. I ended my career working for the high end PC hardware development group at HP in Ft. Collins.

I currently live in Windsor, CO where my wife Vicky (also a retired software developer) and I have lived for nearly 20 years. Until 2 years ago I played my cello in several northern Colorado community orchestras and in a number of small ensembles. Arthritis has forced me to give up the cello, so I now just sit around enjoying our dogs, my books, and my collectibles.
