OBITUARY...
Kick A. Bower, D.D.S. passed away quietly and peacefully at his home on Tuesday, August 4, 1998 at the age of 48. He fought a courageous battle with adult acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

Kirk was born April 18, 1950 on his mother’s birthday to Donald and Darlyne Bower in Aberdeen. At the age of 4, he and his family moved to Rapid City. Kirk attended Canyon Lake and Meadowbrook school grade schools and graduated from Rapid City High School in 1968. He attended South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, Northern State College at Aberdeen and was a 1975 graduate of the University of Nebraska Dental College in Lincoln.

Dr. Bower served two years in the U.S. Army Dental Corps at Fort Bliss, Ell Paso, Texas before returning to Rapid City in 1977. He had been a partner in Family Dental Associates for the past 17 years.

Kirk married his high school sweetheart, Monica Bridge, on September 5, 1970 in Rapid City. They raised three wonderful daughters, Niki, Brandi and Tyna, of whom he was very dedicated and proud.

Asa little kid, Kirk was an avid swimmer, water skier and boxer. As big kid, Kirk was active in racquetball, tennis, power volleyball, softball, competition water skiing and snowboarding. Forever the coach, he coached many, even strangers the these activities.

Kirk was a member of the Rapid City Jaycees, Black Hills Water Ski Club, Trinity Lutheran Church, where he served as an elder. He served in many areas of the South Dakota Dental Association and he coached for the Canyon Lake Little League and Girls Majors softball.

What started as a joke and became a harmless diversion were his many performances as Elvis. Kirk performed all over South Dakota and other states and even on a cruise ship. He was the highlight of many parties in the area for family, friends and charities. He was named South Dakota’s Karaoke Entertainer of the year in 1996.

He will be forever missed by his wife Monica, children, relatives, and friends. To his many colleagues, friends and patients, he would like to say “God bless you and give you peace. Thank you everybody, thank you very much.”
