OBITUARY...
Benjamin “Ben” Simpson, passed away on July 14, 2024 at the Fort Meade VA Hospital, Fort Meade, SD.

Ben was born to Harold and Ann (Zacher) Simpson on June 5, 1950. He grew up in Rapid City, SD, where he graduated from high school in 1968 and immediately joined the US Air Force. He served in several countries around the world until his retirement in 1992, after attaining the rank of Master Sergeant. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering and a Master’s Degree in Digital Circuit Design before returning to the Black Hills in 1997. He settled in Belle Fourche. SD, where he began his second career as a government contractor. He retired from this in 2017.

He was a life member of the American Legion, the Disabled American Veterans, and the NRA. His passion was aways anything automotive; beginning with cars and later branching into motorcycles. It seemed that he believed that if one was good, two or more would be better! His garage was never empty and there was always a new project (or two) in the works.

Ben is survived by one brother, Edward; three sister, Susan, Sharon, and Sandra; one son, Ben (residing in England), and four granddaughters, also in England.

Graveside services, with military honors, will be Thursday, July 18, 2024, 2:30 p.m. at Black Hills National Cemetery, Sturgis, SD
