50th Reunion 2018:
After high school I attended SDSM&T for a year and the U of SD briefly before joining the Army. I served as a medic, qualified as a combat medic, med lab tech and xray tech, attached to a medical unit that did draft physicals in New York City. At that time I also moonlighted as a paramedic at JFK airport.
In 1973 after discharge I returned to school at the U of Iowa and left there in 1977 with a BS and credentials in PT headed for Oregon and the Rogue Valley . As a physical therapist I first worked for a small hospital in Grants Pass enjoying small town life and doing home health PT among the rural millworkers, veterans, and old hippies. 3 years later I was involved in a pain clinic and a work conditioning program at Providence hospital in Medford, where I met my wife Sue, a social worker.
In 1991 we moved to the Willamette Valley and the Eugene area where I worked in private practice, a pain clinic and an occupational medicine clinic associated with McKenzie Willamette hospital. After working as a PT for 39 years I retired in 2016, a year after my wife retired from her work as case manager for Senior and Disabled Services at Lane Council of Governments.
We are settled on 5 acres in the foothills of the Coast Range overlooking the alluvial plain of the Willamette Valley. Our place is mostly horse pasture although we do grow blueberries and marionberries. When not tending the place I have a Kawasaki KLR650 for cruising the backroads of the Coast and Cascade ranges. We have a little used travel trailer for camping. Our 32 year old son also lives and works in the Eugene area.
Best regards and Happy Trails to all.
