OBITUARY...
Frances M. Rigert, age 62, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013, at home.
Fran was born in Rapid City, SD, to Oscar and Rowena (Schipke) Lee on Sept. 30, 1950. Fran married Dave Rigert on Dec. 21, 1974, in Rapid City. They moved to Oregon where their children, Holly, Heather, and Quintin, were born. They lived in Oregon, California and Norway before returning to Rapid City.
Fran was known for her amazing creativity. Never one to settle on a single craft or medium, Fran was continually “on the move” from tole painting, paper cuttings, watercolors to acrylic painting, doll making (creating pixie-like fairies), jewelry, and the list goes on and on. Most recently she was exciting people with her beautiful millinery of cocktail hats, similar to those made famous by Duchess Kate Middleton. While any one of these arts could have made her a good living, she was only interested in creating unique and beautiful things.
All who knew her will remember a caring, loving person always willing to be a friend, help out with whatever needed to be done, or contribute her talents at the appropriate moment. Her deep Christian faith carried her through life. Fran will be missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include her husband, Dave of Rapid City; children Quintin Rigert of Cary, NC, Holly (Jeff) Weeden of Manhattan, KS and Heather Rigert of St. Louis Park, MN; two grandchildren Leilani and Cooper Weeden; a brother, Edward (Barb) Lee of Rapid City; and a sister, Carol (Bob) Hamrin of Clifton, VA; and a loving extended family.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 2, at Behrens-Wilson Funeral Home
